Sigma Tau Delta

Sigma Tau Delta (ΣTΔ) works to cultivate the next generation of literary scholars, educators, writers, and leaders through transformative undergraduate and graduate experiences. Founded in 1924, and with more than 35,000 members worldwide, ΣTΔ creates unparalleled opportunities for intellectual growth through academic conferences; publication opportunities; awards, grants, and scholarships; and mentorship networks that connect students with established professionals in English studies.

At WashU, Sigma Tau Delta is the beating heart of the English undergraduate community. Each semester, our Executive Committee organizes several social events that allow our students to gather together and share their love of writing and literature. Our signature events include literary-themed holiday celebrations, coffee hours and picnics, bookmark-painting parties, and our spring formal. The officers on our Executive Committee also work with the English department to promote the program by helping to advise and recruit prospective students.
