Matthew Moore

Graduate Student, Literature

Matt received his BA from Graceland University double majoring in English and Studio Arts with minors in Creative Writing and Cinema Studies. He earned his MFA in Creative Writing and Environment from Iowa State University. His autotheoretical manuscript, Bobcat Traps and Other Theories, explored his upbringing by working-class parents in the rural Midwest, the struggles of disavowed identity as a first-generation student, and the intersection of whiteness and masculinity within post-industrial economies in the heartland and the resurgence of right-wing populism.

His research interests include psychoanalysis, Marxism, and 19th and early-20th century English literature. He explores the politics of aesthetics, affect, and states of dissociation and disavowed identity in Romantic poetry, Decadence, and Modernist psychoanalytic life writing.

His essays can be found in Of Rust and Glass and Sublation Magazine.
