CCC Mission Statement
The Culture and Climate Committee serves to cultivate and foster a diverse community and empowering environment in the English Department where all are welcomed and supported. The committee will do so by offering education and resources to all members of the department for the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion; amplifying marginalized voices; providing guidance for addressing microaggressions and incidents of bias; and advocating on behalf of additional actions that would further create a supportive and equitable departmental culture across all levels.
Members of the committee are elected annually on a rotating two-year term of service, and will include: two MFA students, two PhD students, two teaching track faculty, two tenure track faculty, and one staff person.
The committee is responsible for the following items:

- Annual department climate survey
- Providing guidance on how to report incidents of bias
- Constructing and maintaining an online library relevant to equity, diversity, and inclusion in curriculum, pedagogy, and academia
- Offering programming related to goals of equity, diversity, inclusion, and justice
- Reviewing department curriculum, handbooks, and policy and advocating for changes when necessary
